Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased four percent

In December 2018, 59,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Västernorrland County (+3.6 %), of which 54,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 29 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased four percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (630 nights).

14,300 rooms (+0.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 20,000 rooms (-0.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 993,000 registered bed nights (+1.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 175,000 (+6.3 %) for foreigners in Västernorrland County, in total 1.2 million (+2.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+1.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 787,000 nights (+3.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västernorrland County out of total registered bed nights was 1.7 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

Length of stay was 1.5 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Västernorrland County, length of stay in December was on average 1.5 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (-0.1 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.4 nights (+1.2 %) and foreigners 1.7 nights (+5.1 %).

40,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.0 percent were domestic, and 7.0 percent were from foreign countries.
