Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased two percent

In February 2019, 67,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Västernorrland County (+1.8 %), of which 60,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 6,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased six percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 27 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased two percent from last year's February.

16,200 rooms (+11.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 27,800 rooms (-2.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 115,000 registered bed nights (+7.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,100 (-37.8 %) for foreigners in Västernorrland County, in total 126,000 (+0.8 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.3 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.3 million nights (+3.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 954,000 nights (+0.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västernorrland County out of total registered bed nights was 1.6 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay was 1.5 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Västernorrland County, length of stay in February was on average 1.5 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (-1.2 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.5 nights (-3.2 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-8.3 %).

44,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.8 percent were domestic, and 7.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.5 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.06).
