Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In July 2019, 279,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västernorrland County (+7.8 %), of which 228,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 51,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased nine percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's July.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (25,500 nights).

44,100 rooms (+27.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 22,200 rooms (+14.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and July, 668,000 registered bed nights (+9.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 112,000 (-8.2 %) for foreigners in Västernorrland County, in total 781,000 (+6.6 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.1 percent

Total of 13.5 million registered bed nights (+5.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 9.3 million nights (+4.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 4.2 million nights (+5.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västernorrland County out of total registered bed nights was 2.1 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.4 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

Length of stay was 1.9 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Västernorrland County, length of stay in July was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (+0.3 %).

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.8 nights (-2.2 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+3.7 %).

149,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 84.0 percent were domestic, and 16.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During July, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.8 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.07).
