Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 14 percent

In September 2019, 94,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Västernorrland County (+14.4 %), of which 83,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 11,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased one percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 14 percent from last year's September.

17,600 rooms (+10.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 41,400 rooms (+18.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 892,000 registered bed nights (+10.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 146,000 (-7.5 %) for foreigners in Västernorrland County, in total 1.0 million (+7.7 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.1 percent

Total of 4.5 million registered bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+3.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.2 million nights (-1.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västernorrland County out of total registered bed nights was 2.1 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.5 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

Length of stay increased three percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. In Västernorrland County, length of stay in September was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-1.3 %).

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.7 nights (-0.7 %) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+2.2 %).

53,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.2 percent were domestic, and 8.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.7 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-0.28).
