Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased three percent

In December 2019, 61,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Västernorrland County (+3.3 %), of which 57,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased five percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 14 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (690 nights).

15,400 rooms (+8.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 22,300 rooms (+11.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 1.1 million registered bed nights (+10.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 163,000 (-6.7 %) for foreigners in Västernorrland County, in total 1.3 million (+7.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.5 million registered bed nights (+0.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 764,000 nights (-2.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västernorrland County out of total registered bed nights was 1.8 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay was 1.5 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Västernorrland County, length of stay in December was on average 1.5 nights and in Sweden 2.0 nights (-2.1 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.4 nights (-0.8 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+2.7 %).

42,100 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.6 percent were domestic, and 5.4 percent were from foreign countries.
