Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased nine percent

In February 2020, 73,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Västernorrland County (+8.7 %), of which 67,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 11 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 10 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased nine percent from last year's February.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (730 nights).

15,200 rooms (-5.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 29,500 rooms (+6.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 125,000 registered bed nights (+8.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 10,900 (-1.8 %) for foreigners in Västernorrland County, in total 136,000 (+7.2 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.4 million registered bed nights (+3.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.5 million nights (+5.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 935,000 nights (-2.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västernorrland County out of total registered bed nights was 1.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

Length of stay increased three percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. In Västernorrland County, length of stay in February was on average 1.6 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (-3.1 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.5 nights (+4.8 %) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+19.2 %).

46,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.6 percent were domestic, and 5.4 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.5 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.25).
