Paid bed nights

45,000 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 45,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västernorrland County (-35.7 %), of which 41,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 36 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 38 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 36 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (510 nights).

9,100 rooms (-47.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 19,500 rooms (-29.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 166,000 registered bed nights (-7.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 14,800 (-14.5 %) for foreigners in Västernorrland County, in total 181,000 (-8.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.8 million registered bed nights (-37.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-33.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 406,000 nights (-54.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västernorrland County out of total registered bed nights was 1.6 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.7 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

Length of stay increased 16 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 16 percent compared to earlier year. In Västernorrland County, length of stay in March was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.7 nights (+19.0 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.8 nights (+6.7 %) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+20.2 %).

24,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 44 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.4 percent were domestic, and 5.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 1.8 nights (+0.23) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+0.62).
