Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 58 percent

In May 2021, 76,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Västernorrland County (+58.0 %), of which 71,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 53 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 170 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 58 percent from last year's May.

13,300 rooms (+70.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 24,700 rooms (+72.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 236,000 registered bed nights (-0.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 16,300 (-12.3 %) for foreigners in Västernorrland County, in total 252,000 (-1.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.3 million registered bed nights (+46.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (+45.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 291,000 nights (+65.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västernorrland County out of total registered bed nights was 2.3 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.4 % and foreign bed nights 1.8 %.

Length of stay was 2.0 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. In Västernorrland County, length of stay in May was on average 2.0 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-5.3 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 2.0 nights (+5.1 %) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-4.0 %).

38,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 64 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.2 percent were domestic, and 5.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västernorrland County on average 2.0 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.68).
