Registered bed nights increased 14 percent

In December 2021, 10,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Västervik (+13.7 %), of which 10,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 195 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 21 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 72 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 14 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (65 nights).

2,300 rooms (+20.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 2,100 rooms (-1.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 404,000 registered bed nights (+19.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 33,400 (+130.6 %) for foreigners in Västervik, in total 437,000 (+24.0 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+85.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+74.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 553,000 nights (+166.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västervik out of total registered bed nights was 0.3 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.0 %.

4,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 69 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.2 percent were domestic, and 1.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västervik on average 2.2 nights (-0.91) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-7.6).
