Registered bed nights increased 29 percent

In March 2019, 10,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Västervik (+29.2 %), of which 10,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 520 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 29 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 31 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 29 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Poland (230 nights).

1,200 rooms (+90.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 2,900 rooms (+35.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 27,400 registered bed nights (+23.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,500 (+41.4 %) for foreigners in Västervik, in total 28,900 (+24.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.5 million registered bed nights (-3.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.6 million nights (-1.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 888,000 nights (-12.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västervik out of total registered bed nights was 0.2 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.3 % and foreign bed nights 0.1 %.

Length of stay increased 29 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 29 percent compared to earlier year. In Västervik, length of stay in March was on average 3.3 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-4.6 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västervik on average 3.2 nights (+24.5 %) and foreigners 3.9 nights (+2.8 %).

3,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.9 percent were domestic, and 4.1 percent were from foreign countries.
