Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 59 percent

In May 2021, 31,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västervik (+59.2 %), of which 30,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 760 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 58 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 106 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 59 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (320 nights).

3,000 rooms (+53.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 2,000 rooms (+44.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 66,600 registered bed nights (+31.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2,500 (-22.1 %) for foreigners in Västervik, in total 69,100 (+28.0 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.3 million registered bed nights (+46.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (+45.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 291,000 nights (+65.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västervik out of total registered bed nights was 0.9 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.0 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay increased eight percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. In Västervik, length of stay in May was on average 2.7 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-5.3 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västervik on average 2.7 nights (+10.9 %) and foreigners 3.2 nights (-42.6 %).

11,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 47 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.9 percent were domestic, and 2.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västervik on average 2.7 nights (+0.18) and foreigners 3.2 nights (+1.1).
