Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased five percent

In December 2019, 55,700 registered bed nights were recorded in Västmanland County (+5.0 %), of which 52,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 23 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased five percent from last year's December.

14,700 rooms (+21.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 18,300 rooms (+8.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 830,000 registered bed nights (+4.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 96,500 (-11.4 %) for foreigners in Västmanland County, in total 926,000 (+2.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.5 million registered bed nights (+0.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 764,000 nights (-2.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västmanland County out of total registered bed nights was 1.6 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Västmanland County, length of stay in December was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 2.0 nights (-2.1 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västmanland County on average 1.7 nights (+7.1 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-3.2 %).

32,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 13 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.5 percent were domestic, and 5.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västmanland County on average 1.7 nights (-0.13) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.15).
