102,000 registered bed nights

In August 2020, 102,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västmanland County (-7.0 %), of which 96,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased one percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 64 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased seven percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (1,500 nights).

16,600 rooms (-18.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 17,100 rooms (-25.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 524,000 registered bed nights (-12.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 25,800 (-64.1 %) for foreigners in Västmanland County, in total 550,000 (-17.9 %) registered nights.

Total of 6.1 million registered bed nights (-31.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.4 million nights (-10.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 615,000 nights (-77.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västmanland County out of total registered bed nights was 1.7 % (+0.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.8 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

Length of stay increased 10 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. In Västmanland County, length of stay in August was on average 2.2 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (+6.0 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västmanland County on average 2.2 nights (+10.1 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+5.3 %).

45,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.0 percent were domestic, and 5.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västmanland County on average 2.2 nights (+0.22) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.02).
