Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 11 percent

In March 2023, 534,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västra Götaland County (+11.5 %), of which 418,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 116,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 18 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 11 percent from last year's March.

160,000 rooms (+15.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 180,000 rooms (+19.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 1.2 million registered bed nights (+29.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 314,000 (+38.7 %) for foreigners in Västra Götaland County, in total 1.5 million (+31.5 %) registered nights.

Market share 13.6 percent

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+4.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (+2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 747,000 nights (+15.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västra Götaland County out of total registered bed nights was 13.6 % (+0.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 13.2 % and foreign bed nights 15.5 %.

Length of stay increased one percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. In Västra Götaland County, length of stay in March was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-6.3 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.6 nights (-1.9 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+4.6 %).

317,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 80.2 percent were domestic, and 19.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.6 nights (0.0) and foreigners 1.8 nights (+0.05).
