Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 14 percent

In April 2019, 649,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västra Götaland County (+13.7 %), of which 460,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 188,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased nine percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 25 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 14 percent from last year's April.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (90,600 nights).

161,000 rooms (+25.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 172,000 rooms (-3.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 1.5 million registered bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 554,000 (+5.1 %) for foreigners in Västra Götaland County, in total 2.0 million (+2.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 15.2 percent

Total of 4.3 million registered bed nights (+5.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.3 million nights (+4.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 953,000 nights (+8.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västra Götaland County out of total registered bed nights was 15.2 % (+1.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 13.9 % and foreign bed nights 19.7 %.

Length of stay increased three percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. In Västra Götaland County, length of stay in April was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.1 nights (+1.4 %).

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.7 nights (+0.7 %) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.8 %).

356,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 75.1 percent were domestic, and 24.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.7 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 2.1 nights (+0.12).
