Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased two percent

In September 2019, 700,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västra Götaland County (+2.5 %), of which 497,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 203,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased three percent and registered foreign bed nights increased one percent. In total, registered bed nights increased two percent from last year's September.

187,000 rooms (+22.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 215,000 rooms (+4.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 6.0 million registered bed nights (+2.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2.8 million (+2.6 %) for foreigners in Västra Götaland County, in total 8.8 million (+2.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 15.5 percent

Total of 4.5 million registered bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+3.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.2 million nights (-1.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västra Götaland County out of total registered bed nights was 15.5 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 14.8 % and foreign bed nights 17.5 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased less than one percent compared to earlier year. In Västra Götaland County, length of stay in September was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-1.3 %).

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.7 nights (+1.0 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+1.9 %).

392,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 74.5 percent were domestic, and 25.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.7 nights (+0.0) and foreigners 2.0 nights (+0.03).
