357,000 registered bed nights

In May 2020, 357,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västra Götaland County (-60.3 %), of which 333,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 24,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 50 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 90 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 60 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (5,500 nights).

59,800 rooms (-68.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 43,300 rooms (-79.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 1.4 million registered bed nights (-34.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 336,000 (-57.7 %) for foreigners in Västra Götaland County, in total 1.7 million (-40.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.2 million registered bed nights (-58.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.1 million nights (-49.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 176,000 nights (-86.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västra Götaland County out of total registered bed nights was 15.9 % (-0.9 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 16.1 % and foreign bed nights 13.9 %.

Length of stay increased 32 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 32 percent compared to earlier year. In Västra Götaland County, length of stay in May was on average 2.3 nights and in Sweden 2.4 nights (+30.7 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 2.3 nights (+7.8 %) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+5.1 %).

155,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 70 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.9 percent were domestic, and 5.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 2.3 nights (+0.57) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+1.2).
