474,000 registered bed nights

In October 2020, 474,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västra Götaland County (-27.2 %), of which 408,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 66,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 16 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 61 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 27 percent from last year's October.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (13,400 nights).

148,000 rooms (-13.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 98,200 rooms (-52.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 5.0 million registered bed nights (-23.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 662,000 (-77.4 %) for foreigners in Västra Götaland County, in total 5.7 million (-39.9 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.1 million registered bed nights (-23.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (-15.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 450,000 nights (-51.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västra Götaland County out of total registered bed nights was 15.3 % (-0.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 15.4 % and foreign bed nights 14.7 %.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Västra Götaland County, length of stay in October was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.0 nights (+7.5 %).

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.7 nights (+7.0 %) and foreigners 2.7 nights (+7.4 %).

266,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 30 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.9 percent were domestic, and 9.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.7 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 2.7 nights (+0.65).
