Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 115 percent

In April 2022, 684,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Västra Götaland County (+115.1 %), of which 514,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 170,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 80 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 430 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 115 percent from last year's April.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Norway (82,300 nights).

173,000 rooms (+114.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 166,000 rooms (+154.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 1.4 million registered bed nights (+66.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 396,000 (+293.6 %) for foreigners in Västra Götaland County, in total 1.8 million (+91.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 16.2 percent

Total of 4.2 million registered bed nights (+64.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+46.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 791,000 nights (+260.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Västra Götaland County out of total registered bed nights was 16.2 % (+3.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 15.0 % and foreign bed nights 21.5 %.

Length of stay was 1.7 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 12 percent compared to earlier year. In Västra Götaland County, length of stay in April was on average 1.7 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-23.8 %).

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.7 nights (-13.6 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-25.8 %).

393,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 143 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 77.9 percent were domestic, and 22.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Västra Götaland County on average 1.7 nights (-0.25) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.49).
