Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 81 percent

In May 2021, 16,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Växjö (+80.7 %), of which 14,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 75 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 171 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 81 percent from last year's May.

3,200 rooms (+54.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 6,200 rooms (+58.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 50,500 registered bed nights (-22.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,000 (-9.9 %) for foreigners in Växjö, in total 55,500 (-21.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.3 million registered bed nights (+46.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (+45.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 291,000 nights (+65.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Växjö out of total registered bed nights was 0.5 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.5 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased four percent compared to earlier year. In Växjö, length of stay in May was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-5.3 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Växjö on average 1.8 nights (+5.9 %) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+8.9 %).

8,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 89 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 92.8 percent were domestic, and 7.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Växjö on average 1.8 nights (-0.1) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.0).
