Paid bed nights

10,000 registered bed nights

In March 2023, 10,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Vest-Telemark (-11.7 %), of which 4,500 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 15 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 12 percent from last year's March.

4,800 nights (-7.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 760 nights (+73.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 11,700 registered bed nights (-3.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 19,700 (+23.8 %) for foreigners in Vest-Telemark, in total 31,400 (+12.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 0.4 percent

Total of 2.4 million registered bed nights (+2.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (+0.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 554,000 nights (+9.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Vest-Telemark out of total registered bed nights was 0.4 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.2 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

Length of stay increased four percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased four percent compared to earlier year. In Vest-Telemark, length of stay in March was on average 4.2 nights and in Norway 2.0 nights (-6.1 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vest-Telemark on average 3.4 nights (+23.5 %) and foreigners 5.3 nights (+44.9 %).

2,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 56.5 percent were domestic, and 43.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Vest-Telemark on average 3.4 nights (+0.27) and foreigners 5.3 nights (+0.07).
