Registered bed nights increased 14 percent

In May 2021, 194,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Viken (+14.5 %), of which 181,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 12,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 15 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased four percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 14 percent from last year's May.

34,400 nights (+96.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 38,200 nights (+16.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 746,000 registered bed nights (-21.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 72,000 (-78.6 %) for foreigners in Viken, in total 818,000 (-36.4 %) registered nights.

Market share 12.4 percent

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+51.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.5 million nights (+52.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 103,000 nights (+45.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Viken out of total registered bed nights was 12.4 % (-4.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 12.4 % and foreign bed nights 12.2 %.

58,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 28 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 91.3 percent were domestic, and 8.7 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Viken on average 3.4 nights (-0.3) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-1.2).
