Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased three percent

In February 2023, 366,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Viken (+2.9 %), of which 264,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 102,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 18 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's February.

131,000 nights (+12.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 100,000 nights (+20.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 517,000 registered bed nights (+29.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 175,000 (-15.4 %) for foreigners in Viken, in total 692,000 (+14.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 17.3 percent

Total of 2.1 million registered bed nights (+18.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.5 million nights (+17.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 577,000 nights (+23.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Viken out of total registered bed nights was 17.3 % (-2.7 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 17.2 % and foreign bed nights 17.7 %.

Length of stay was 1.9 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 21 percent compared to earlier year. In Viken, length of stay in February was on average 1.9 nights and in Norway 2.0 nights (-9.6 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Viken on average 1.7 nights (-19.5 %) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-28.5 %).

192,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 30 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 79.0 percent were domestic, and 21.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Viken on average 1.7 nights (-0.33) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-0.95).
